Artist's Comments

This image was shot on a Provia 5x4 transparency. It had to be shot twice as I didn’t put the inside box properly in the transport box (OPPS)!

However the second shoot went much better anyway!

(Don’t worry i was extremely cautious with the handling of the fish and studio flashes don’t hurt their eyes - I checked I am an animal lover!)

Really amazing idea. The execution is also great... the window and flower balance each other nicely.

Perhaps I would prefer that there was just a bit more room below the glass, now it just somehow seems to be a bit too close to the bottom of the frame.

You could add a statement there too, that goldfishes should never be kept in small bowls. ;)

Nothing personal. I just say if I disagree and enjoy a nice debate.

Such a very nice concept. Best deviation I did see today

I enjoy the idea of creating something that makes people a little uncertain or uneasy.

Very clever. The lighting is great, with the flower exposed brilliantly, and the goldfish more back-lit in order to see the details of it's fins. Great work.

Wow, colours and contrasts.....thats truly beautiful.

I'm against animal testing: it makes them nervous and they give the wrong answers!

come and visit [link] and meet a world of catboys! =^_^= nyu!

Lovely shot. I would have lit the goldfish from the front also to bring out it's colour, but hey , it's great!

Wow nice concept! :)
Keep it up

You've got to be Kidding me! :D

I did actually light the gold fish from the front, while lighting the bowl and the flower, the gold fish was black so i couldn't get it correctly exposed without over exposing everything else in the foreground. Also if i had exposed it any more the lovely details of the fins would have been lost. Its actually pretty well exposed, as the gold fish was black, and had little colour detail - i managed to get most of the colour detail.

ha ha sounds complex, but that’s commercial studio lighting!

thanks for your support! glad you like it!
